I'm not a photographer.
I'm an observer, a student, and hopefully a storyteller.
My first camera was a Kodak Ektralite that I had as a kid in the mid 80s. In early 2001, I bought my first digital camera, a 2MP digital HP. But it was my iPhone 3GS in 2009 that really sparked my interest in taking pictures.
In May 2022 I bought my first "real" camera, a Fuji X-T3, and in November 2023, I traded it in for an X-T5. I mostly gravitate toward street photography, people, and architecture. The beauty in design and the stories in the moment. Being challenged to find new perspectives and bring them to life in color, light, and shadows. Creating something new from what already was.
As a portfolio, this site is a landing page for the photos I've taken and a documentation of my evolution. A translation of my voice to the visual and a home for the stories I have yet to tell.
If you're reading this, thank you. I hope you enjoy poking around, and if you'd like to be internet friends, feel free to follow me on Instagram and Bluesky. I'm also "@jasonspooner" on Foto. And please check out my free newsletter/blog on Substack, adventures in picture taking.
