About Me

Hi, my name is Jason Spooner, and I take pictures sometimes. And then I post some of those pictures on websites like this one, where cool people like you might see them and like to look at them. You might even follow me on the socials or buy some prints. Because we're friends now, and that's what friends do.

I started my picture-taking journey as a kid in the mid '80s with a Kodak Ektralite camera and a few cartridges of film. Then in 2001, I bought my first digital camera, a 2MP HP behemoth. But it was my iPhone 3GS in 2009 that really ignited my love for photography. For the first time, I had a camera with me everywhere and could capture and share moments that would've otherwise passed me by. It didn't matter whether the pictures were any good (they weren't), only that I could take them.

In 2022, I bought my first "professional" camera, a Fujifilm X-T3, which I later traded in for an X-T5. I took photos of everything, not sure what I liked or what would be interesting. Gradually, I began finding my voice, gravitating toward street photography, people, and architecture. The beauty in design and the stories in the moment. Being challenged to find new perspectives and bring them to life in color, light, and shadows. Creating something new from what already was. And then somewhere along the way, I started an online portfolio, a visual diary of my evolution and hopefully a little bit of my progress.

If you're reading this, thanks for stopping by. Please make yourself at home, and I'll see you on the streets.
